Answers to some frequently asked questions

What we do:

We convert and transfer VHS, or camcorder tape and various films to DVD.

All videotapes and films age. As the they degrade and picture quality drops, it becomes too late to restore it back to its original condition. We convert and transfer your videotapes or film to DVD, where they will not degrade.

What is the life expectancy of a DVD, and why is it better than VHS?

Industry experts agree that a DVD will maintain its original quality for over 100 years, regardless of playback frequency. On the other hand, VHS tapes are intended to maintain original quality for an average of ten years, and that number can vary greatly depending on storage conditions and playback frequency.

Why should you have your videotapes converted to DVD?

Reason #1: Your VHS, Beta and Camcorder TAPES are NOT PERMANENT STORAGE!

Most of us believe that a VHS, Beta or camcorder tape will preserve our cherished family memories for a lifetime. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

According to industry experts, VHS tapes maintain their original quality for an average of only TEN years!

This number can vary greatly depending on storage conditions and playback frequency, but most industry experts predict that magnetic tape (including VHS and camcorder tapes) will have a useful life of five to twenty years, with some videos becoming completely unwatchable in as little as fifteen years!

The degrading process may start slowly, but it is continuous and the outcome is certain.

On the other hand, the life expectancy of a DVD is 100+ years, with no decrease in quality no matter how many times it is played.

If you want to share your favorite memories with your children and your grandchildren, we recommend converting your tapes to a DVD format that will last for a century or more!

Reason #2: Get organized, and enjoy your memories!

If you are like most people, you don't watch your old tapes very often because it is too much of a hassle. You have to find the cables to connect your camera to your TV, hook it up, figure out which TV and VCR settings to use, etc.

In addition, unorganized videos don't get watched, because the scenes you want are somewhere in the middle of a tape and are too hard to find.

We can digitize and transfer your VHS tapes to DVD. You can pop in your DVD any time, anywhere... and enjoy those memories.

We can also make duplicates of your new DVDs, so you can share them with family and friends. Duplicate copies, stored at a different location, serve as a backup copy to protect you against the loss of your home movies should something happen to your original DVD's.
DVD movies of your home and property that are stored in a safe location also offer security and documentation of your belongings in the event.
